I just listenened to the Real Me cover and wow!! PJ could always become a The Who cover band. What really impressed me was Jeff!
Well, I always knew Jeff had quite decent chops, but he really surprised me by not downplaying/simplifying one of the most ambitious rock songs basswise. He really rips in pure Ox style.

And now I want the video of the perfomance.

The bass in that song is like another vocal in a way and I was convinced he didn't have the chops to pull it off, but he nailed it. Note perfect. Great performance by the whole band, but Jeff particularly owns it.

And I read he used a Precision bass, that is a bass usually played in a more pocket fashion, it wouldnt be my 1st choice for shredding.

pick any quieter Pj song you can mention and he's there doing little frills on cymbals..let's not get into a row about Matt, it's been done to absolute death.

Crotchety is such an interesting word, don't you think? It conjures up so many images. I now see Dimejinky with different eyes. In fact, I am eying him, with these changed eyes.
There's something special about a crotch, don't you think?

Completely disagree with Jeff Ament over playing PJ stuff...If anything the criticism I have with Jeff's playing is that he's too safe - just playing root notes and following the chords. Do you have any examples dime?

He's talking about Matt, not Jeff, I believe.
At the risk of getting sidetracked, I'm not certain that Matt is the right drummer for the band either - I don't know if I could blame it on "overplaying" though, I just don't think his style gels with band at all. There was a deep funk heart beating in Pearl Jam from 1990 to 1998 - that disappeared into the ether the day Matt first sat at the drum throne. Matt Cameron is the whitest white man on Earth, for real.

Eloquently and perfectly put. I miss Jack is all..
Aless, over here it means old and creaky. It is a great word though.

I still miss Jack too, Audrey.
I still don't think a lot of Pearl Jam fans "get" Jack, to be honest...
