I'm using the newest Firefox, Windows Vista, cookies are enabled. I check boxes that say "remember me next time", and I ask Firefox to remember my password - but I get logged out once I close my browser. What the fuck is this all about?

do you enter the forum from the main page or do you just go to the forum without the border at the top?

Both. Depends what comes up first as I type the address in.

Delete your browsing history completely and see if that helps.

does that to me too, at work. I think it's because of access rights (not admin).
No problem at home otoh.

This hasn't been a problem for me until a week ago. No change to admin rights, I've deleted my history and my cookies, and still nothing. It's driving me batty.

This has just started happening for me to. I'm using Firefox/Vista too.

Maybe something to do with the latest Firefox update? I updated around a week ago.

with firefox, i dont believe vista has anything to do with this problem

tools - options - private data area - settings - make sure cookies and saved passwords are unchecked

Take it as a sign. Your presence is not approved.

Same here. I read somewhere that it might have something to do with a corrupt bookmarks or cookies library, and that you have to go and rename a couple program files or something ... but no instructions on how to do it.

There's a brilliant fix for this that I just found about a week ago, and I've been meaning to paste it here. Follow it step-by-step.

1. Locate your profile folder - it's a randomly named subfolder of the
directory that opens when you hold down the "windows logo" key on your keyboard
and press R then in that Run dialog paste %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
and hit enter.
2. Ensure Firefox is closed using File -> Exit from menu, and check your Task
Manager processes tab to be sure there is no firefox.exe listed.
3. Find the file there named cookies.sqlite and rename it to cookiesOLD.sqlite
4. Restart Firefox, log into your sites.
5. Restart firefox again and revisit the sites to see if it logs you in
automatically (if you have chosen "remember me" or other option on the sites.)

The reason the cookies.sqlite database storage of your cookies gets corrupted is because of "cleaning" or "scanning" of tracking cookies done by security/privacy/ad killing software running on your system.

I would like to openly declare again how incredibly happy I am with this. Unbelievable how great it is to not to have log in everywhere again.
