although he's typically a major league douche bag, jian ghomeshi holds his own with a rather prickish billy bob thornton, promoting his band's new album....

APRIL 10--Until Billy Bob Thornton got all surly this week with that Canadian radio host, we'd never heard of his group The Boxmasters. So we'll take the opportunity to post some excerpts from the band's 2008 tour rider, which stipulated that the act be billed as "Billy Bob Thornton And Special Guests The Boxmasters" ('cause, you know, BBT does not want his famous Hollywood name to get in the way of the music). Thornton's rider notes, in red type, that "This is a smoking tour please take note! Billy Smokes On Stage As Part Of His Show!" And while his dressing room requirements are not extensive, the 53-year-old actor does need two cases of Bud Light, two bottles of a "nice Cabernet Red Wine," and a couple of packs of premium chewing gum.

Well, the "Billy Bob Thornton And Special Guests The Boxmasters" part is pretty douchey considering the lengths he appears to go to keep his creative endeavours separate. Also, if you go in and read the dressing room requirements part, it seems that the diva Thornton needs her own dressing room and bathroom.

He's the drummer, right?
So what, apparently the rest of the band agreed to that, right ? That should be their concern, i don't see why i should be offended by it, i don't know how they function. And i've seen much worse when it comes to riders.

Whether the band agreed to it has nothing to do with this discussion. The rider in an of itself is nothing out of the ordinary. But In the context of BBT being a self important douche who makes a big deal about separating his film career from his music career because he thinks people will take him more seriously...these are relevant details.

What do you actually know about "the context" ? One interview ? Is that context ? Listen i'm sorry i don't want to join the fingerpointing club, but i fail to see how it's a big fucking deal. There are many many other artists i'd like to kick in the nuts.
