Even though the general consensus on 311 seems to be that they're past their prime, I'll give it a shot. It's produced by the man that ruined Metallica and countless others though, Bob Rock, so I'm not expecting much. I mean, look at how bad that last Offspring album with him was

I think their last album sucked big time, but I really like the two before it (From Chaos and Evolver).

No, I meant the album. I already heard the song, it was okay, better than "Don't Tread on Me", but nowhere near as awesome as "Beyond the Grey Sky" or "Creatures".

I remember really liking Transistor.

It can't be any worse than Don't Tread on Me, can it? I think there ony a couple decent songs on there. I have still have hope for them and their live shows are pretty good.

Decent tune. I can see it getting some airplay.

evolver was a great album... dont tread on me... meh. they jump around so much you would never know the difference.

I am a big 311 fan. I've seen them live more than any other band. Anyway, even though I enjoy listening to their music, I don't expect much groundbreaking material anymore. They are great musicians, but often recycle their old stuff. (See Flowing on Soundsystem and Same Mistake Twice on Evolver). That's just one example.

Anyway, this new tune sounds just like Transistor's Borders at the beginning and a mish mash of other old 311 songs thrown together after that. Their songs usually take time to grow on me and I'm still going to buy the record on its release date. But, I am lukewarm about this tune and aside from a few snoozers, I liked "Don't Tread On Me."

Also, they collectively have some of the worst lyrics of all the bands I listen to...but I am OK with that too. I dig the album cover tho.

This has always been my beef with 311. Along with the fact that I almost never like having two singers. I've always liked the music though.

I really think they could do without S.A. on vocals in a lot of the songs.

Right after Evolver I thought the opposite...but then he's all over DTOM and got a little overkill.

So did any of you end up listening to this album?

It's really good! Light years better than the last album, more in line with early 311.

Give it a shot. The lyrics suck as much as ever, Nick raps a little too much, but SA Martinez is at least tolerable, and the music is some of their better work. The more mellow tunes are very catchy (like Amber, but better).

I should be getting it today. I'm hoping for much better things than the last effort. From the samples I've heard, the music sounds pretty good. Hopefully I can get past Nick and SA on this album.

Yup, really digging the album.

I liked "Hey You" so I'll give the rest a shot.

I should be getting it in the mail today (hopefully). They released it in its entirety on their myspace page a week or so ago and I wasn't all that impressed, but I need 311 albums to grow on me normally.

I, however, do not like "Hey You." I feel like there is too much recycled 311 in it and Nick's lyrics are vomit-inducing. I liked it better in the early days when the vocals weren't as clear so you didn't have to worry about what they were actually saying, but lately the lyrics are up front and clear and it's embarrassing...especially since they are pushing 40.

Fackin hell, this album kicks ass.
I've always wanted them to have a harder edge on more tracks on one album and finally Bob Rock got it out of them.

I haven't enjoyed a 311 album like this in a long time.

I've been listening to the record the past couple days and it's really really bad.

I know I will end up linking several songs, but there is no getting around that the singing and lyrics are as cheesy and awful as they get. I actually really dig the music.

"Mix it up" has the worst 311 lyrics I have heard to date.
