My ukulele is very cheap and fairly battered, but I managed to write something on it in the past few days. Apologies for the shitty, quiet laptop recording, and this was just done in a live take so it's full of mistakes and ropey parts. Just curious for feedback/thoughts on the song itself.

EDIT: link died.

Lyrics:
Spoiler: show
Blue-Green Feather:

I remember you that night
You were wearing maroon and black,
With Myrna Loy curls and
Blue-green feather in your hat,
And we drank wine until my lips stained
The colour of your dress,
And we talked of words and people
And all of the rest.

Your head lay on my shoulder
As sound and shapes began to blur,
You suggested that we exit
Lightly pulling at your pearls,
And this city was never great enough
For a lady of your kind,
But this night may win you yet,
This night or I.

We walked upon the streets
That have held all our regrets,
And we kissed with chapped lips
And I could taste your cigarette,
You said ‘just like in the movies..’
And we spun beneath the snow.
A love as cold as this
Is all that we’d known.

And you drew it from your hat
Beside bad music and bad weather,
And you gave it to me
That night in December,
And it’s still in my coat pocket
That blue-green feather,
A love that now I
Can only remember.

Cheers. I think the words work better with the melody behind it there. I was going for a Leonard Cohen 3/4 type thing.
