ok, so not to ask for MORE, but thought it might be fun to suggest or discuss some possible new songs/covers that Ed might throw out this summer.
We got a lot of nifty (yes i just used that word) ones last year (blackbird-my fav-hope it returns, cat stevens stuff, neil stuff etc) and maybe there will be some new ones. Election inspired perhaps? economy inspired? fanclub frenzy inspired?
so my suggestions:
1) 'the golden state' ...by john doe (i think...unless he covered it too). Am thinking Ed and Elisa Jane (if she joins Liam again) might pull it off!

Golden State would be really cool. I just heard a Donovan tune the other night called Catch The Wind that might sound really good. I'd like to hear Hurt and Eclipse considering he played them at the final shows of the east coast leg last year. And hearing a tune from the new record would kick ass.

His uke cover of Tonight you Belong To Me with Janet Weiss was beautiful, I'd love for him to do that again if he can find a lady to help him out.
Otherwise, I'd like to hear his uke tunes again, and in terms of covers...I've been going through a Leonard Cohen phase, I think he could pull off something like Chelsea Hotel, Famous Blue Raincoat or Take This Waltz. Those would be pretty great.

That one is about a one night stand with Janis Joplin so speaking about Janis he could do Mercedes Benz since I've been hearing he's such a money hungry sell out this days, MB would be anthemic.

Haha, nice. I forgot you were a Joplin fan.

Oh wow, there are several songs I would love to hear Ed cover. Lets be realistic though, I would like to hear him play You're True and Satelite. And Im seeing him in Nashville so i wouldn't mind hearing him cover a Johnny Cash song of Maybe play something by the beatles like Something played on the Uke. That would be cool.

I wonder if this'll make the record. Its got a great bridge, but that might be the best part. It'd be cool if he played other fresh ideas like he did with this.
