does anyone else think this is unfair? i know in the hockey playoffs teams are re-seeded after each round, so the highest seed will always play the lowest seed. to me, this just doesn't seem fair. an 8 seed should not have to turn around and play the 2nd seed after just beating the 1 seed.

could you imagine if the ncaa tournament worked this way.

what do you guys think about re-seeding teams...fair or foul?

Fair. And it's not like a low seeded team in hockey has never made it to the SCF.

I agree with you but there is also a lot more parity in the pro's compared to college, so reseeding in the NHL playoffs wouldn't have nearly the same consequences as reseeding the NCAA basketball tournament.

i agree with you about the parity in pro sports to college sports, but i still think it is unfair. having to play a 2 seed in the second round is still tougher than a 4 seed for example. it just bothers me for some reason.

Perfectly fair, the #1 seed worked hard all year to be the best. Therefore, they should get the best match-up.

i understand this, (and they do get the best match up, by playing the lower seed in the first round) but look at if from the bottom seeds point of view. they worked hard to beat a higher seed they should be rewarded in the next round. no?

I'm not sure what difference it makes. A lower seeded team still has to get through any of the other teams to advance and eventually win.

Yeah, and I don't think you should reward a team for beating a higher seed in the playoffs. The regular season is what that's for. How fair would it be for the #2 seed to have to face a higher seed just because #8 matched up well with #1?
