I did have this in the Moderator Forum, but there's no reason why the whole Board can't help solve the problem. Apparently animated gifs are a problem with Google Chrome. Anyone have any ideas how to keep Mecca's avatar from crashing GC?

He took down his avatar, and GC stopped crashing. What is it about THIS gif that crashes Google Chrome? How do I fix it?

Can't you run Chrome for some sites and use other browsers for other sites? I do that. I wish I could have it all in one, but it's not there yet.
Obviously, this has been googled and it's apparently a common problem so I won't check myself, but have you loaded the latest version from the lab? It's an obvious question but I'm compelled to start there.

use firefox
Firefox is really slow. Google Chrome seems to work really fast. IE isn't bad, but Firefox slows everything else on my computer down. I don't know what's going on there.

If it comes to this, I'll just say fuck it and start using IE again.

I've been using firefox for 3 years and never had any problems with speed or memory usage. There are several ways of tweaking ff to speed it up, and they work.
