does anybody like Spoon? The new album leaked a few weeks ago. I'm not really familiar, I'm downloading In the Moonlight.

haha. actually, their song "The way we get by" is on the soundtrack. it's one of their better songs.
note: i have not seen an episode of the O.C. I just saw that on a Cd in the store
Yea, I've heard The Way We Get By on the radio back home quite a few times. The amount of airplay it recieved was shocking considering the pot reference.

Spoon is one of my favorite bands from Texas. Seriously, Britt Daniel is very talented and has a unique voice that lends itself well to Spoon's sound. My punk rock friend is pretty good friends with him and gets us tickets to all the shows. Britt is very down to earth and fun to hang out with.
Get Girls Can Tell as well as Kill The Moonlight. "Me and the Bean," "The Fitted Shirt," "Chicago At Night," "Something To Look Forward To," "Don't Let It Get You Down," "The Way We Get By," and "Vittorio E," among others, all are fantastic.
Funny thing about Chicago. They try to incorporate the city in at least one song on every album.
If you have a chance to see them live, do it. You won't be disappointed.

i liked "kill the moonlight" a lot better than "gimme fiction." then again, i've only listened to gimme fiction only a handful of times, it might grow on me.

Spoon is fantastic. Some of the catchiest songs you'll ever hear. They put on a great live show too. I dare you to not like them.
I saw them a few times in Austin and Britt Daniel solo a couple of times. I talked to him before the Beck/Flaming Lips show in November 2002. He was sitting outside the UT Performing Arts Center by himself and we chatted for a couple of minutes. Very nice guy.
A Series Of Sneaks should be purchased if you don't have it already.

Spoon played an unannounced, surprise (and free) show at the Metro in Chicago on Monday. I was lucky enough to attend. The show was fantastic. They played for about 2 hours and covered a lot of material from Girls Can Tell. The new material from Gimme Fiction translates very well live and sounded great. The band was in good spirits and sounded extremely tight (Britt Daniels is a very underrated guitar player). They were very happy to be playing in the states again in front of a crowd that knew all the material (after opening for Interpol in Europe in April) and seemed genuinely appreciative of us.
One of the best free shows I've seen in a long time.

You were there too? Awesome. I'm still wearing that horrid blinking Jack Daniels sticker they handed out with the ticket.
I LOVE Spoon...they've become one of my favorite bands, and their new album sounds amazing. Actually, pretty much all of their stuff is amazing. Why aren't they bigger? Why?
