I'd be there this year for sure if it wasn't within days of baby #2's due date.

HAHA! That is indeed how I won. I knew it was gonna happen, just took a few tries. What with the economy being so bad, I've taken to entering more contests in order to go places this year.

Ya, that's actually a pretty cool give away. Get through on the phone and you've got tickets. I'd be all over it if #2 wasn't due around then. There was a period for a year or two where I managed to win about 10 times on CJay. Never anything cool like that though, mostly local shows, cds, etc.

Yes the gorge is warm in May, it's the desert part of Washington.

Goes and breaks into Ara's home, steals his tickets, and drinks his milk straight from the carton.

Given that PJ, DMB and Beasties are headlining just about every other festival this summer, I don't see this one as the one to be at.

sitemap and schedules are up for print.

http://www.sasquatchfestival.com/#/home/post/183

Worst part about the times, The Doves are playing in the afternoon, for an hour!!!! They gotta be fuckin kiddin me!! I'd put them in the Decemberists spot in a heartbeat.

Temps for the festival: Mid 80's for highs and high 40's for lows. Not too shabby.

I was out in Portland early this month and took a side trip to the Gorge for a few days, and it was certainly warm enough. I got in a bunch of hiking and whatnot, so the temperature shouldn't be an issue. Have fun -- that line up looks great and the Gorge is a wonderful place.

Now that was one helluva weekend. 4 days at the Gorge is truly good for the soul. Wakin up to blue skies and 90F ain't a bad way to live.
Highlights for me:

The Doves: fantastic set but they got shafted by getting an afternoon slot, 50mins on stage. Kings of Leon headlined that night and were nowhere near as great as the Doves. I also got to meet them!!!! Came away with a signed CD too.

Street Sweeper Social Club: Tom Morello's new project. FUCKING AWESOME! Again, shafted with an afternoon slot and was way too short. The new album is out next month and I"m down with it already.

Jane's Addiction: Great set but you can tell that Dave was bored with things and was just there for the money. Still, getting to see "Been Caught Stealing" and "Stop" done live was ruckus. Closed the show with "Jane Says".

NIN: My second time seeing them. They didn't have as big a stage setup this time but still kicked everyone's ass. "March of the Pigs" always gets me movin.

Mos Def: Man, great set top to bottom. Nice to see a real hip/hop show. No big effects or lights, just straight rappin. I should pick up some of his stuff.

TV on the Radio: I'd only heard a few singles from these guys and they put on a solid set. I'll be buyin their album based on this performance.

The Knux: Great new band. A bunch of black dudes with guitars, mixin hiphop and heavy rock riffs. Great songs but they wasted alot of their time on stage with the hype guy just fuckin around and they even threw on an MGMT song to close out their set and just left the stage. But here's the kicker: they'd invited a bunch of people from the audience to dance and just kinda left them hangin up there as the two lead guys just kinda left. Awkward.

GirlTalk: DAYUM. If this guy ever comes to your town, fuckin go! He's a DJ that strings samples for various other songs together in one set. In the 50mins he was on stage, he threw out over 300 samples, ranging from "Don't Stop t'il You Get Enough" to Metallica's "One". Even if you don't like to dance in a club, just to listen to what he throws out there is a show.

Ben Harper: well, we all know what Ben does and he did it well to close out the festival. The only song I really know of his is "Faded", which he didn't do, but I still really enjoyed his set. I was down at the front of the stage for this one and really got to see him go nuts on the slide guitar. I was always hoping that Ed would just walk out for a song or two. I mean, it is near Seattle y'know.

Anyway, i'll upload my pics of the weekend tonight and post a few here.
