4/5, Doc, and I are avoiding all leaked material and refusing to hear Backspacer until its official release. Who will join us? Come to this thread for support.
LIVE EXEMPTION: Listening to new songs performed live (or in Target ads) does not exempt you from the club.
SINGLE EXEMPTION: Listening to radio releases or purchasing singles of officially release material does not exempt you from the club.
FULL DISCLOSURE: I have heard the through-the-door version of The Fixer.

I avoided the leaks of Avocado, and really enjoyed laying on the floor w/ my giant 80's headphones while I read through the liner notes.
I grabbed the leaked version of 3,000 Mile Blues and regretted it. There was very little new and exciting once my boxed set arrived.
I'm planning on recapturing the Avocado joy.

I'm with you. I've never heard a Pearl Jam album before it's official release. Can't find a good reason to start now. I like have the whole package in front of me - lyrics (if any), artwork, etc... I pledge to avoid "leaked" material.
But I am glad you aren't including live performances. I'll always watch the band live. Whether on tv or in person. There's no way to avoid "new material" in that fashion. I have heard "Got Some" from the Tonight Show telecast. I have not, howevr, heard "The Fixer" yet.

Downloading that recording can just barely be called "hearing The Fixer."

I would like to join but as I will be seeing them live 4 times in August and the album will come out at least a month later, I don't think I will have the strength to hold out that long. And even August seems so very far away.
Binaural's release day was ruined for me because of leaked songs, both the leaked record and the live shows. I've vowed not to do it again and have been doing pretty well since.

Actually you can include me in the Anti-Leak and Anti-Release club since I probably won't be listening to this album either way, especially after hearing the terrible "Got Some".
i assume hearing singles released on the radio does not count as a violation of this, correct?
Definitely not. For S/T I heard WWS and Unemployable before. I dunno if I should have listened to the second one, but I figured since the band put it out there I'd oblige them and listen to it.

I think the point is to follow the band's release plan, so that should be cool.

i've actually never been involved with the leak process so i'll be getting in on that if possible.
