did you buy that device that detects lightning and snaps the picture for you or did you set up your camera and just get lucky guessing? Either way, I like it. Very nice.

I did it myself...for the first one I was stadning in the storm for over an hour till I got that one.
The last two I did 480 rapid fire shots and only got those two.
I had 3 other lighting strikes, but lost the pics when my pc crashed 6 months ago.

i took this a week or two ago. The storm was quite a ways off in the distance so i didn't get any close shots but the way the sky lit up was pretty spectacular. Most of the lightning was in the clouds but i managed to get a few ground to cloud trunks.
I got most of these using rapid fire mode as well, except the first one which was pure luck. I saw a small flash and snapped managing to catch a second larger flash purely by luck.
