So, shades, we're back in Europe again. The big stage. The stage where The Arse always sits its backside down in the stands while the true big boys play out for the title.
Really, what is it that makes Arsenal so good in England and so pedestrian in Europe? I'm surprised Wenger has so much hair left on his noggen.
The Milan-Barca game I watched on tv was quite enjoyable. Very convincing performance in defence by Milan, with Gattuso doing a particularly impressive job on Deco and Ronaldinho.
Inter... what is it about them really? Are they a good side or a bad side? It just doens't make sense that a team can swing so much.
And then we come to Celtic. I've always been impressed with the Scottish fans, who always seem so upbeat even when their team has these embarassing losses. It's like you guys expect them to do shit, so you're happy when that happens, and on the rare occasion they do pull it off, it's full on party time. Hope they get the UEFA consolation. They deserve it, just so that the fans can have more to cheer about.

if they hadn't been hit by so many injuries, I'd peg Lyon as this year's Porto or Monaco...
Yea, I've always wondered the same thing about Inter Milan...mid-table in Italy, top of the group in CL...who knows.

Yeah, Lyon are great, unbeaten in all competitions this season.
French League three years in a row, quater finals of Champions league last season, great team.
Stand out players are Juninho, Govou and Malouda. Plus Essien is improving after every match and looks like he can be a great player in years to come.

I definitely agree. Juninho is the best free-kick taker in the world, hands-down. Beckham can't even come close. Some of those goals that he scored last year in the CL (Bayern Munich and Celtic come to mind), were simply stunning.
If anything, I think the fact that the Ligue 1 is a beat weaker than Spain, England, and Italy helps the French teams out in the Champions League (much like how the relatively weak Portuguese league helped out Porto last year). Like I said, keep an eye out for Lyon in the CL. Arsenal, Internazionale, Real Madrid, Barcelona...they all get beat up every week, and I don't think Lyon suffers the same amount of physicality.
It should be a great knockout stage this year!

We were absolutely shite against Chelsea last season, no bottle! Hopefully thing'll be fifferent this year but 3 draws in a row one of which at home is not good enough.
