Having my own room at school this year has brought me the situation of having to finally purchase my own television.
I am going LCD. I am looking at either 22" or 26" sets. My favorite tv brands are Sony (which I probably won't get cuz of the price), Samsung, LG, Panisonic, and Toshiba.
Anyone know of any great deals?
What are the thoughts of how big a difference it is from a 22" to a 26" set?

in all seriousness, take into account:
-the tv will look bigger in your place than in the store next to 20 other tvs.
-how far away will you be watching from?
-how big is your current set?
-what will you be watching the most (cable/sat, movies, games)?
of the ones you mentioned... here is my order of preference
samsung sony / lg /toshiba panasonic
but they are all good. between those, its ultimately YOUR preference. which one do YOU think has the best picture, which has the best overall look (like how it will look with your furniture, etc)
dont be one of those douchebags who doesnt get an hdmi cable or two to hook up your gear (if your dvd player/cable box has it, USE IT). if hdmi is not available, use COMPONENT cables (red blue and green) for your video signal. if you hook up with anything else, you might as well not spend the money on an HDTV.

also, go for the 26", unless youre going to be sitting 5 inches away from it. the difference between a 22 and 26 is WAYY bigger than say, a 42 to 46 inch. its like when youre in high school, and you have to make fun of your 17 year old buddy for going out with a freshman chick who is 14. but when the two of you are adults, and its 27 and 24, it doesnt really matter anymore. think of that 26 inch as a girl who just turned legal and wants your cock. thats what you want.

This advice is the best I've gotten since April of 2008. Plus, that situation sounds like one I hope to encounter in the next 5 years of my life.

So I picked it up today. I went into the store planning to buy a 26" Samsung LCD for $454.99.
I bought a Sony Bravio 32" LCD for $479.99.
It's fucking awesome.

Excellent work buddy, upgrading to the 32. And a Bravia, no less ... I love my 42" Bravia. Get it done up right with a speaker setup, too - even if it's in your bedroom.

If you are just using standard cable you just stick with a tube tv....
edit: opps missed that you already bought one...a 32 inch tube would still look better but who wants to move a 32 inch tube around!
I am using standard cable for now (in my dorm), but the HD is still a good use for XBOX360. Not to mention, I hope to have this television for 7+ years and will not be living in a dorm for that long. So I will be watching HD on it before the end of it's life. Worth the investment, to me.
