Post subject: Flashing Battery Light on Dell Inspiron 1521

So I just noticed today (it could have happened a few days ago I suppose), that my LED battery light on the right of the laptop is flashing amber three times, then blue once. I have no idea what this means for my battery.
I went on the Dell website, and looked at some forums, and some people think that the battery is toast, and some say it is running low on charge for the session.
The strange part is however, I have it plugged in to an outlet and it still does this, and when I unplug it, it continues.
Any ideas?

Any ideas?
Did you take the battery out while you had it plugged into the outlet? If the battery LED indicator flashes while the battery is removed from the laptop, then you might have a motherboard/controller problem.

Dell told me I need a new battery. So I'm getting one. I've heard from many a Dell Laptop owner of short battery life for the laptops. this one was exactly 2 years (24 months).
