I've heard reports that him going was just a way to send a non-political politcal figure to collect the journalists, and through back channel dealings their release had already been secured. bill had little if anything to do with it.

i have mixed feelings on clinton. i dont know specifically what he did to help but i do know the economy got better under his administration, but he also became very moderate because he was a politician and wanted support from the left AND the right.
he's also a little bitch for signing the 1996 telecommunications act and ruining radio as we knew it.

So nobody is wondering what we gave up in exchange for the prisoners? Nobody? Just a fair note, but NK's head nuclear negotiator is the official who met Clinton at the airport...

So what exactly were they reporting on that got them introuble in the first place?
Why the hell were they even in North Korea?
That's never been mentioned to my knowledge.
They were in the border area with China. But between this and the 3 Americans getting captured by Iran, there may be a lesson here...
So wait... you're saying backpacking Sudan or Venezuela or canoing my gold bar collection through the Strait of Malacca would be a bad decision?
Iraq is not the greatest vacation destination this time of year?
I find it odd no reporters have asked.... so NK accused you of terroristic acts and threw you in prison... what the fuck were you doing exactly in disputed territory? Why did you put yourself in this situation? What possibly is the reason to even be there.... shooting good B role? Talking to villagers about their wonderful government?
I'm glad they are back... I just find it odd they are given the hero's welcome.
