I'd like the PJ that opens with a strong and impressive set like tonight in Toronto, but then goes on to close the deal rather than toll around with the greatest hits in the encores. Just sayin'.....

Where do you live exactly? Austria right? Vienna or Innsbruck region? It doesn't even matter. In both area's you had a fair amount of shows within a couple of hours in the last 3 year, didn't you? Novarock, Bern, Zagreb, Krakow, northern Italy, Berlin. Or am I wrong,

Slovenia (Austria's southern neighbour). Zagreb was the only really decently close one. This years closest show was Berlin and that would be a 1/2 day drive pretty much. In 2007 the closest proper show was Munich (7 hour bus drive, we have an agency that specialises in concert round trips). I was in Venice but that storm happened. Vienna is quite close (4-5 hour drive, northern Italy was 4 hours and more) but still you end up paying the show twice and more in expenses. You're tyred by the time you reach the venue in most cases. They played here in 2000 though.

Ah ok, thought it was Austria, sorry. I would do the 4-5 hours without thinking really, but I understand your point.
4-5 hours is not a problem but still the last proper show in that range was 3 years ago and before that 6 years ago.
All of Europe had to wait between 2000 & 2006 eh. Well, except a few crazy people who go across the atlantic.
but yes, looking at the map, you don't live in a very good region as to PJ shows. Come over here, my neighbour's house is for sale. You have Belgium, Holland, Western Germany, Paris (even London, inluding shuttle/boat) within 2-3 hours. And you have very cheap flights to Dublin, Manchester, Barcelona, ... And you have the best beer. And you're close to the sea! (although you might be as well).

I'm sorry, but bitching about a Pearl Jam show being 4 hrs away is just loser talk. Why can't you take the train, you're in Europe! I drove 6 hrs to Council Bluffs, and I saved up and flew to the 2 Boston shows from Iowa in '04. I am by no means rich. It's one thing if the distance means you can't do the round trip in one day, but 4 hours is not that distance.

Sounds like your membership lapsed at some point. I've been a CONSTANT member for 8 years and was 9 rows off the floor in the lower bowl, 3 sections back from the stage.
