so we are "treated" another unheard song from a baseball telecast - why? why are the pearls jammed going this route? baseball has no fucking root in rock and roll - it's a lame excuse of a sport for belly-wearing millionnaires that can't hold a candle to what PJ does live. i have no idea why PJ likes to have their songs premiered on BB games.

baseball has a root in most things in america. it has been around since 1876 in the US and is every bit as tough as any other major sport. what belly wearing millionaires are you talking about? fans? because baseball is the cheapest sport to attend. and aside from a few players here and there...the average professional baseball player is in as good of condition as any other sport being that they have to play the longest season and play every day. why don't you simply just say you aren't a fan and leave it at that instead of talking shit?

There's an inclination to seperate sports from music for certain people. You can be into both, but jocks and fraternities tend to alienate those who gravitate towards art and music. Seeing music you love openly associated with sports you might not like or care about can undermine the artistic value of those songs.

that can be true. i'm a professional musician who loves baseball and hockey and basketball to a lower extent. and the 3/5's of my main group are as big into sports as am...technically more as the other 2 both do fantasy baseball.
also as a PJ fan though, it's hard to not see the sport connections. they were initially named after a NBA player after all. mike has played the national anthem at a seattle mariners game, jeff had said he had season tickets to the sonics before they moved and became the thunder, and eddie has for years been pretty open about being a cubs fan...wearing cubs attire, singing take me out to the ball game at least 4 times now and even writing the cubs a song. haha.

Force of Nature ain't spoiled here - i just find it odd that the band chose this avenue to premiere a song. the Fixer bit was as annoying as this.

Mookie Fucking Blaylock
Yeah, I know. Jeff was an all-state basketball player. He was a jock. They've never shied away from associating themselves with sports, but its just weird to see them openly using that forum to promote themselves nowadays.
Things were different in the early 1990s when they had the image of brooding artists, so it takes some getting used to now that things have changed and they're reasonably content and open to having songs debuted behind sports highlights.

baseball is fucking awesome and that is nothing new for the band to be into sports.
didnt ed sing take me out to the ballgame at wrigley back in the late 90s?
the band is good friends with theo epstein, and we've seen video of them taking BP at fenway park.
In 2004 when they played in Boston they came back for the encore and the first thing they did was announce that the sox won that night (clinced a playoff berth by doing so)

What the fuck is wrong with PJ 'associating' with sports. Since when was sports a bad thing?
it's not a bad thing to be associated with sports but you'll rekon that the people that are graced of a surprise song première on a baseball game are watching tv and not practicing said sport. anyway, i admit they have a history with baseball but i find it frustrating since i prefer to go out swimming instead of watching a ball game - i used to like baseball as a kid but i don't think one has to be that much of an athlete to be good at it - i'd put it in the same camp as golf, curling, bowling and archery.

Baseball tonight comes on at 11pm / 12 midnight here. Not Prime practice hours.
Pretty narrowminded comments at the end there. They all command skill discipline and training.
