very low. not mainstream enough. even jeremy or alive, my parents don't know it. almost every superbowl act is old enough to cover all age groups. pearl jam would only cover 25 to 45 year old males.

Maybe in 10 or 20 years they will. That is if Ed's lungs and throat still havn't been literally dislodged and sprayed bloodily out all over a stage somewhere.

If Pearl Jam played the Super Bowl I think they would play Even Flow, Alive, Dissident and Yellow Ledbetter. Perhaps they would switch one of those songs out for a new single.

Fixer (or whatever new song they have) Alive Baba or Rockin'
That's all they'd get. Acts generally get 10-12 minutes.
Pearl Jam shows: Champaign 4/23/2003 Chicago 6/18/2003 St. Louis 10/05/2004 Portland 7/20/2006 Gorge 7/22/2006 Ridgefield 9/26/2009 Philadelphia 10/31/2009

I'd say there's little chance. Bands like Foo Fighters or Green Day would be more accessible to a larger multi-generational audience and ultimately better for the ratings than Pearl Jam, simply because those bands have songs that aren't as serious as Pearl Jam's. Times Like These or Welcome To Paradise would go over better than Even Flow or Alive.

i would generally agree with you as you hear those bands used in sport teasers. suprisingly however, i've lost track of how many times i've noticed both local and national broadcast sneak bits of world wide suicide in over the past couple years. i usually respond with a "really? wow.." suprises me every time haha. so you never know, but i too would rate it as being a slim to no chance.

yeah, i think their audience spans like Bruce does... the halftime act-deciders have picked VERY disparate sounding bands, but ones which appeal to some niche.... a lot of right-wingers don't like Bruce when they found out how left he was... i think having a sizeable core audience is sufficient justification to be tapped... now with all the 20 years legacy stuff... broader scope... even a hit #1 single from that stuff... and having PJ play is going to attract an additional audience beyond football lovers...

I say very little, if any chance. They're certainly big/popular enough, but they don't really have a "stage show". PJ doesn't really do the big production with pyrotechnics, etc..... and I think you need that for the SB. Not that they couldn't put something together, but I don't think it's their style and would look ..... weird.

Welcome to Paradise?? "I want to take you to a wasteland I like to call my home." An odd choice if you were picking a non-serious, fun, accessible GD song.....

Can't you just picture the disgusted look on Ed's face as he looked out on a sea of choreographed pre-teens in bright costumes dancing and singing and fake smiling to their songs, while thousands of corporate and media types looked on haplessly? Priceless.....
