Stone said he was so proud of Matt for The Fixer. Wonder what that meant...
That Stone has had sex with Matt?

I'm gay for Jonathan Cohen -- always does the best articles.
I always get the urge to email a thank you to him after reading his Pearl Jam articles. It is so nice to have someone in the music industry who gets them so well and is a professional.

I'm still reading but thanks for the link, amazing article.
I know I've said I was rationalising away any excitement for this album, but I found this quote really interesting from Ed:
Quote:
A lot of the songs on this record were ones I just tried to get out of the way of, without self-editing. It made it easier. That was the one thing I realized while putting together that boxed set [of the band's 1991 debut album, "Ten"]. We had to revisit some things to approve the content. It was interesting to hear that when we were just starting out, I just didn't edit that much. Whatever I wrote or the way I sang it the first time was the way it ended up being. Over the years, you get the luxury of taking more time and really refining and going through many different versions.
On the last record, there was a song ["Comatose"] that started out being called "Crapshoot Rapture." There must have been literally 20 different, almost complete lyrics for that. The more options you have, the more you can confuse the issue. Early on, we didn't have as many options. You made a record and made it quick. We kind of went back to that. Even if we have the luxury, why indulge if it's just going to create confusion?
I'm now quite curious as to what this will sound like in practice, quite curious indeed.
Hey, album's out next week - I keep forgetting!
Still, expectations low. But I'll be hoping for the best.
I think Jonathen Cohen should write a biography on the band. After this Cameron Crowe doc, we still won't have an essential book or bio. If there is one guy who should do it, it should be Cohen. I've always thought it was fairly obvious to the band, who else is asking these questions and getting this info out of them in interviews in this detail? How do we start a campaign for this?
