Reporting from Sacramento - An Orange County lawmaker who inadvertently broadcast explicit remarks about his sexual conquests over an open microphone abruptly resigned from office Wednesday after legislative leaders stripped him of his committee posts and launched an ethics probe of his actions.
Assemblyman Michael Duvall (R-Yorba Linda), whose remarks were videotaped in July during a lull in a Sacramento hearing, stepped down less than 24 hours after the tape spread online Tuesday night.
In the video, the married family-values crusader from Yorba Linda talks in graphic detail about women he said he slept with -- at least one of whom appeared to be a lobbyist with business before the utilities committee on which Duvall sat as vice chairman.

Gwinnett County

A Gwinnett County officer resigned Wednesday -- four days after being arrested for DUI.
James Stoudenmire, 27, resigned in lieu of being terminated, Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. David Schiralli said.
“Members of this police department who are involved in incidents which reflect poorly on the department, will not be tolerated," Chief Charles Walters said in a statement. "We not only owe it to the citizens of this county, but to ourselves to set the highest standards possible in professionalism.”
Police said Stoudenmire was off-duty Saturday morning when he was involved in a traffic crash on Pleasant Hill Road near Interstate 85 after leaving Wild Bill's.

Let's talk about the many displays of GOP class from last night, shall we?
We'll start small, with the merely rude. House Minority Whip and lone Congressional Republican Jew, Eric Cantor, was caught playing with his Blackberry during the speech. Not really anything new, ever since Congress discovered Twitter.
Taking the cake however, was Rep. Joe Wilson with his now infamous "You Lie" temper tantrum.
This led to him being ordered by the House GOP leadership to apologize to the President. Don't see THAT too often from the current GOP leadership, so you can see how bad that was. He could very well end up being censured before this is over. The look on Nancy Pelosi's face is priceless in this video. Joe Biden looked like he was about to get up and kick this guy's ass. Maybe if he were as classy as the rest of South Carolina, he wait for three days and then beat the shit out of him with a cane on the floor of the House. But alas, Joe Biden is no Southern gentleman.
BTW, Wilson's Democratic opponent in his district has raised over $500,000 for his campaign in the past day because of this. I love when shit like that happens.
Of course, he has become a right-wing hero, despite the fact that about five minutes of research shows that Obama was telling the truth, and therefore Wilson was the one lying (or at least being aggressively ignorant).

Yes, that is in the House Bill.
What is missing, however, is a mechanism that would determine if people here illegally are enrolled in a health insurance plan that is receiving subsidies from the federal government. Until that is put into place, that provision will not be enforcable. As it stands now, we are operatng in a sort of "don't ask, don't tell" mode.
Any health reform should have provisions to insure illegal immigrants.
By default it will. It's not like ER's are going to ask for landed status documentation. They'll treat the person, eat the costs and then pass the costs onto the government and private insurance companies.

Isn't that pretty much what anti-immigration people say is happening now? ER service does not equal insurance.
