Hell has not frozen over yet, but it very well may.
According to sources who have so far filed accurate reports on Apple's future hardware plans, the company is feverishly working on a two-button wireless optical mouse that it intends to release.
Apple enthusiasts have longed for an Apple-branded two-button mouse for over a decade, but their requests have gone unanswered. So what has changed? According to sources, 'it's the company."
With Apple now profiting from low-priced consumer electronics as it makes a push to reclaim market share from Windows, a two-button mouse is 'almost an essential,' sources said.
It's unclear when the computer maker plans to introduce the mouse. Insiders warned that anticipation may continue to build for months as the company perfects the product.
Apple has just recently reduced the price of its wired mouse to $29 and its wireless optical mouse to $59. The two-button wireless optical mouse would likely debut at the $69 price point once reserved for the company's current wireless mouse.
Is anyone else as excited about this as me??? Holy crap, a two-button wireless mouse from Apple, I can't imagine how amazing it will be. I bet it's going to feel like an orgasm in your hand, with all the right curves and colors and textures. Maybe they will do something crazy like have multiple colors to match your iPod! Or be in the shape of an apple. Or have various colors for the laser, that would be awesome. Oh man. And only for 70 bucks too. I can't believe I recently got suckered out of $5 for a new wireless two-button mouse on ebay.
The anticipation is killing me!!

1, 2, 3... 4. And a scroll wheel thingy.
My mouse must be like illegal or somethin', right?

I find this amusing only because for all of the praise that Steve Jobs and Apple gets for being innovative I think they've really missed several key things that could've made their product much better and more acceptable to non Mac addicts.
one button mouse is one thing
and
no eject button on floppy drive
two simple and stupid feature that may have made me consider Macs the last 5 Computers I've bought. This doesn't even begin to address how they've ignored the gamers of the world and we are people willing to spend $3,000 for a comp! I won't even go into how they've resisted integrating into the Windows World.
If anything, their success with the iPod has proved how completely stupid they were to NOT accept it's a windows world and develop cool products that can exist for Macs and PC's

Macs haven't had floppy drives for several years. They have been the first company to get rid of old technology like floppy drives and parallel ports. If you're talking about CD-ROM drives, the missing eject button is for aesthetic purposes, and the eject button on the keyboard is fully functional. I've actually gotten more CDs stuck in PCs with eject buttons than Macs.
As for gaming, Macs just aren't gaming machines. Generally, gamers like to build their own systems, and do a lot of customizing. Macs are competitive with PCs for day-to-day office and internet use, and they excel with multimedia applications. They obviously aren't for everyone.
Oh yeah, I'm also using a Microsoft mouse with scroll-wheel. This news isn't groundbreaking or anything, but it will be nice to finally see an Apple 2-button mouse.
