I was just curious how to get the album at midnight when it comes out. I have called my local super target and they say they are not going to be open for it and I would have to wait till 8 in the morning. We all know that is not going to happen! Does anyone know if you can get it from itunes right at midnight central time. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

i imagine you could get it on itunes at midnight. If you ordered from the 10c I suspect you'll have it a day or two before at any rate. I think we got it early with S/T

depending on where you live, some independent record stores have midnight sales. considering this will be coming out on a sunday, that means the midnight sale would be on a saturday night, which i could conceivably see happening to a wider extent. i know Easy Street is having a midnight sale.

Is the party definitely at the West Seattle one? do you know until when it goes? (I don't land in Seattle until 23.20 )

I bought a few albums at midnight in college. Maybe I'm old now, but it seems a waste to bother since I won't really be listening to the album until I'm done w/ work on the release date.
I guess if you stay up until 2am, it would probably be worth it.

I think it was, but now it's pretty irrelevant.
I can see waiting for the physical album, but if you were just gonna buy it on iTunes, might as well hunt down the leak.
... or maybe don't violate copyright law. I guess there's that.

I think it's sad our kids will never know what it's like to get an album at midnight in a store. I did it with Yield and my buddy got No Code for me and dropped it off first thing in the morning.

Also, you're not stealing the album if your download it and have already/plan on buying it.
It's a nice moral justification to make, but you're still breaking copyright law when you d/l something without the artist's permission.
When I buy an album, I am paying for the right to listen to it, unlimited, for personal use. I might be breaking copyright law but I'm not compromising any ethics or morals. I'm pretty sure Pearl Jam could give a shit if you download the album today if you have or plan on paying for it in 8 days.

Yeah, but your plans could change. You might not even be here in 8 days. Granted, 10C may already have your $$ already if you pre-ordered it, but you are paying for the actual physical CD or Vinyl and get your fair use of the songs on them, not the ability to d/l and potentially freely disseminate such songs to anyone on the internet before such time as it is commercially available for the general public to purchase.
I agree that PJ is getting your money and therefore probably doesn't care what you do, but there are millions out there that would have no intention of buying the album that are getting it for free when they should've had to pay for a license from the artist to get it.

No, when you buy a CD you're also buying license to listen to it in any format. You're allowed to make mp3s of CDs you have, which are can just as easily be circulated on the internet as leaked mp3s.

How much money exactly a band loses when someone who has no intention of buying the album downloads it for free?

Also, I very clearly said anyone who is buying the album or has bought the album is doing nothing immoral and that the band would care less if you downloaded it today and you twisted it into this, friend.
Finally, LOL at "millions" of people caring about a new Pearl Jam album! Good one!
