I can understand not liking music magazines, but are there any that you tend to agree with or like?

I personally have never read NME. I've just seen some people here dropping the name from time to time. But i fail to see what's so despicable about a music magazine or web site praising a band like Pitchfork did for The Arcade Fire, which King most probably hate for that very reason.

Must be hard to force oneself to diss every band people are raving about just for the sake of being apart or special. You're gonna get old and wrinkled before your time, man....ease up a bit.

I think the UK mags used to be great up until the time of Oasis and classic rock type magazines are good if you're starting your collection, but once you've learned the basics you no longer really need that. Pitchfork also used to be really good until some time last year when they decided they had to create stars like "The Unicorns", but now I can't take it seriously.Image Other than that I just hear about stuff through comparisons to what I already like and what people tell me about. Message boards are good too.

Word up. I tend to agree with all of what you've said.
With PFM, I don't always like what they like...but they seem to be on point when saying something sucks  (Travis Morrison, newest Tool and Metallica, etc...)

It's because they hype gimmicky bands with a good look rather than giving credit to the bands that actually work hard and don't crack under hype.

I mean the Arcade Fire would be great if they spent as much time on music as they do their little outfits.

That bit on Travistan where he goes "1-2-3-4" in that dorky voice had me laughing for weeks.

Nah, that was Roxy Music. There was Dinosaur Jr. too but nobody's carrying the torch right now.
