Where is this? Is this where they recorded it?
Levon Helm Studios is nestled on twenty acres, housing a magnificent timber-framed barn/studio. Using no nails, only wooden pegs and locally quarried bluestone, the building has optimal sound quality. It is a dream retreat with a large bass-filled lake beneath Overlook mountain. Over the years, countless musicians and artists have visited the studio to enjoy the creative atmosphere and hospitality that it offers. The one-of-a-kind studio has been the catalyst to many great recordings and albums.

I know I saw a page somewhere with a list of albums recorded & now I can't find it to save the life of me. Wasn't anything spectacular. You'll just have to take Levon's word on it...
There's a list of musicians/bands on Levon's website that have performed at his midnight rambles which is pretty impressive.

if I was at either of the last two shows, I'd have left pretty pissed off at the end of the night...quite possibly the worst setlists I've ever seen this band throw out

You have to admit it's a little hit lite. But the Crwoes have always been like that. I always thought they were a band you went to see live, get ripped and just groove. It's not what they play but how they play it.
Of all their hits, there's only two played and few albums overlooked completely.

Hmm. I guess im a fan of the black crowes like i am of pearl jam. I dont care to only see the hits. I dont think there is a bad song on that setlist and would enjoy them all. I've seen em enough times i guess...

starts off fine (first three songs), but then Slow Mule, which must have just fucking dropped the energy in the room to about negative 1000
starts picking up (slowly) again, only to hit Wee, a song I loathe, then a jam, into Cosmic Friend (another song I loathe, though not as much as Wee)
pick back up again with Hiding and Houston, then hit another double shot of boring, into TIMP, which might be ok if they just played the album version for once, but I highly doubt that was the case, so it must be the overplayed jammed out version
then Remedy and Been a Long Time, which is a great 1-2 punch to close a show
then the encore...Descending should be retired...I saw it in June and Adam fucking butchered the outro so badly I was actually physically angry with him
and Don't Do It rocks
now, if the setlist looked like this:
Good Morning Captain Kept My Soul Sister Luck Wyoming and Me Appaloosa Shine Along What Is Home Black Moon Creeping--->jam---> Moving on Down the Line I Ain't Hiding Houston Don't Dream About Me Shady Grove One Mirror Too Many Soul Singing (with jam a la 05/06) Remedy Been a Long Time --------------------- Peace Anyway Dont Do It

apparently you're one of the lucky ones who has yet to hear Adam butcher the outro and ruin the entire song
I'm telling you, I saw it in June, it was painful to sit through. He was fine on the intro, fine all throughout the song, and then the end was just...miserable. Painful is the word that constantly comes to mind. I was standing there awestruck by the suck coming out of Adam's keys.

Yea, 10 shows or so and not once seen it. i need to see it live.
I remember reading something ontheir website awhile ago..interview with him..said playing descending is the most nerve wracking thing in his life.

I like Adam, I really do. He's a lot better than Rob Clores was (less creepy too). He's great on the new stuff, and for the most part, great on the old stuff, including the stuff most people would associate big time with Ed (Title Song, Peace Anyway, Sunflower etc).
But Descending is just bad with him...I consider myself lucky to have gotten it with Ed back on 12/30/05...and then to be followed by Title Song...now THAT was fucking badass
