I like S/T but after listening to Backspacer and S/T back to back I think the production on S/T is horrible. The guitars on S/T especially sound way too crunchy whereas the guitars on Backspacer are softer and more layered which I think suits their style more. Jeff's bass and Matt's drums also sound way better on Backspacer - they are more in the forefront than just blended background noise. They had some really good songs for S/T that could have been great. I don't know.

i'm most curious to hear Life Wasted. its a great song that i just can't listen to because of the production.

i doubt he could make me like the second half of that album though.

S/T would have been BETTER had Brendan produced it, but the songs aren't strong enough on their own to be fantastic.

If Brendan had produced S/T and left the arrangements up to the band, it would've sounded good, but imagine if he'd played on it as well and added various keyboard sounds, strings, and horns.

Agreed.

My dream is one day he remasters Riot Act for what it should be.

My dream is that Riot Act is left the way it is because the production is perfect :)

THIS!

I also dream for when they do the Binaural reissue they call up Tchad Blake and ask him to mix and master the entire album.

8) My headphones are waiting!

And leave Riot Act alone bitches.

We all know that the remasters will be smash-your-face brickwalled anyway. They'll be re-remastering them to sound better in a few years. OK, the B.O'B remix was interesting but does anyone actually prefer the overly loud Ten remaster to the original?

To be honest, NO.

Er, you guys know Brendan mixed Riot Act the first time around, right?

That's why, despite Adam Kasper also producing it, it sounds so much warmer and richer than S/T.

Riot Act is the most B'OB sounding non B'OB record they have.

No amount of reproduction would fix S/T.

You can't polish shit.

I saw an episode of myth busters that would suggest otherwise.

Riot Act's fine.. Needs no more work. Binaural is also fine.. though an acquired taste. I love the sound of it. S/T is a mess. Production-wise, I'd love Brendan to have a go at it. It won't make the songs better, but it'd bring it up in my estimation as a whole. S/T could really have done with Brendan's hand in arrangement and 'music direction.'

Remastering RA wouldn't fix anything unless Ed recuts his vox. The production is great.

I agree. Marker is a great song but its butchered by production. Gone needs to be given more space. Really there is some great material there but the production really destroys the album for me. It sounds like I got a mediocre download and it shouldn't be that way. If produced like Crapspacer or Riot Act I think S/T would be the best of the post binaural crowd.

You should try to find a vinyl rip. S/T sound great.

I don't think BS sounds all that good. The vinyl is whack.

Yes, I probably should but I wouldn't know where to look.

I have heard that the BS vinyl was not done well. I'm sorry to hear that as I admire the vinylphiles like yourself and it would stink if the album is not done properly.

It is probably naughty to ask as it is studio material, but I would love to hear a needledrop of this record. Of course I own the album (as does everyone else here) but it is probably still off limits.
