cheap is relative, next to your operating system, your antivirus software should rank up there with the most important software you buy

Norton cost around 30 bucks or so

go to their site and look them over, if not, go to here and look up anti-virus software in the downloads section

I hate Norton and Mcafee. I personally think they suck.
I use one called NOD32.

Website: http://www.nod32.com (US)
or http://www.nod32.com.au (australia)

Their US website was a bit slow this morning, so in case you have a problem you can check their australia site which was fine.

I use Norton and like it a lot. Why do you think they suck?

Norton and McAfee are more resource intensive. They are also a little more invasive as to how they operate. Dont get me wrong, they are not BAD. They do usually do their job. I'm just not a fan.

If you end up choosing Norton there is a patch at Torrentbox.com for 100 years of free "Liveupdate" not that I would know about these kinda things though

I don't even think there's such a thing as anti-virus software for linux :P

I did run it occassionally when I was on windows, but I've never gotten a virus so I have no idea how well it works. I do know people that use it though.

Awesome. Yeah, I've never gotten a virus in my life so I dont even bother running one on my home computer. But I'm required to have something on my work machine.

clamwin (sourceforge) is an open-source virus-scanner (so it's free software! 8))

Ive been running AVG for a few years now and it works great, they do a good job at keeping the virus definitions up to date and everything. No complains about it here.
