Now ive heard through the grape vine that the subject as written could be on in Sydney.
Its supposed to be for Friends and Family of the Record Label. Ie, media type people. I dont know anything else.
The person who told me the info, has been very tight lipped on any further info. Saying that she cant say anything, as that its "internal" only.
So a few things about this:
1. Would the boys really do this? I always thought they would of put their fans first before "media" type people.
2. Its quite possible my friend could be bullshitting, but who knows. She has been very coy about the whole thing.
3. I debated about posting to this forum due to the amount of shit this could stir up. But in the end i thought f*ck it.
4. I have a few contacts myself who ive only just started trying to get onto this too see if its true, and if so, get tickets. But its major favours i have to pull and its friends of friends, so the process could take awhile.
5. Again, im not meaning to stir shit. This is a legitimate post, with a fan just trying to sort out wtf is going on.
6. Oh, and another reason why im pissed, is that this so called friend of mine hates going to live gigs. She will only go to this one due to the "other" people being there. Ie, to be seen. I dont think she even owns a pearl jam album.

What record label would this be exactly?
well thats what i thought. however im guessing that pearl jam would of had to partner up with a record label to distribute down under. but it makes the whole thing even more fishy.....

Yea, I have no clue what the deal is with their distribution in Australia, but I thought this was suspect the minute I saw "record label."

The last time they attempted to play a show like that ended up being the infamous F-Bomb riddled version of State of Love and Trust for the Singles party on MTV I think.
In all honesty, I would find this "show" more disturbing than any of the target, espn, etc. shit that has gone on since the new album. It just dosent seem like Pearl Jam to play a private show for record execs and their douchebag families.

I had forgotten about the Singles party. I need to go and dig that SoLaT version up now. Doing a record label show would certainly seem directly at odds with that performance, but that was 17-18 years ago and things change a lot in that amount of time.

thats what got me riled.
the only reason is that i would consider this possible is due to the fact that my friend gets invited to these types of events all the time, being a marketing director for a big company down here.
here is some copy and paste from emails i have:
Quote:
her: I just got invited to an 'intimate and private' gig with pearl jam! Woo hoo! X
me: where is the gig at?
her: not sure. will find out soon. got it thru work
me: well let me know if u can get more. u know id be keen as mustard
her: sure... i think its a work only thing but of course will try. xxx is stinging to go as well
me: it would be strange that they do that. do a intamate gig for marketing people only types. typically not them, and the "normal" fan base would be up in arms if they found out about it.
hence the question about where is it at...
all good tho. i wouldnt be complaining
her: no its for family and friends of their record label but i got a tix via my media contact here

Why? This is probably their way of saying "thank you" for getting the record out there.

well, considering their approach to not being on a record label, u think if anything, there would be a fanclub show....
for the people who bought the record....
but artists do this all the time.
i know ben harper has done it for emi music here in auz....

The Shepherds Bush Empire show in London had the entire level one seating for friends, record company types and VIPs, that was maybe 40% of the seating. They had a blast (on their Blackberrys )
And everywhere outside of the US, Pearl Jam rely on distribution through........a major record label
The tickets went on pre-sale to HMV pre-order customers. The 10C got a very limited lottery

Because some people have to be resentful of anyone more successful than them. (Better not tell them about your Juliet-Echo-Whiskey Golf-Oscar-Lima-Delta)

Yes they would do this why do you think they have that supposed 'lottery' or rows 1&2 9&10 .. so they can actually lottery 10% of those tickets and then spiff the rest or trade them for shit they want
this band is soooo corrupt now that it is sickening

Are they not playing 7 shows in Australia and New Zealand? Presumably for people who bought the record?
