I remember during the early records, I always looked for the Ed penned song at #8.
Porch (8 out of 11 songs), Rearviewmirror (8/12) and Corduroy (8/14).
Just think about that for a second. What an amazing list of tunes.
Next three albums he moved back to #9.
Lukin (9/13), MFC (9/13) and Grievance (9/15).
Another amazing list. These one's punch you in the mouth.
The past three have been scattered (10/15, 9/13, and 7/11), and way less in your face....
Green Disease, Gone and Unthought Known.
I like all of his tunes, but would really love to see that mid-record song go back to a punchier one Ed songs again. So, to re-track I would put the following at song 8....
Porch, Rearviewmirror, Corduroy, Lukin, Brain of J, Insignificance (although Grievance does kick ass), I guess you have to keep Green Disease here all the other Ed penned songs are too f'ing slow, Severed Hand, I guess Unthought Known would stay too.

You say the craziest shit.
This album is definitely a return to form for Ed penned songs. Not one clunker on here, ie. thumbing my way/gone.
Thumbing My Way is great.
Yeah, TMW is a great tune.
That's weird that you don't think about who wrote what. I always think about it when I listen to the band, they've each got a pretty distinct songwriting voice.

it depends on the band for me. i really only pay attn. with PJ. i forget with other bands. or some bands, like Metallica, are primarily Hetfield/Ulrich so.

It may be weird, it's just never seemed important to me. If you asked me what my favorite "paul" or "john" song was out of the Beatles songs, I really wouldn't be able to answer you either, because I don't think about who wrote what as I'm listening to those either.

I never think about that either. Hell, I don't even know the names of the members of some of my favorite bands ever. Music matters, the rest, not so much.
