V" is a re-imagining of the 1980's miniseries about the world's first encounter with an alien race in which the aliens call themselves The Visitors, and have a seemingly friendly agenda that may or may not be a cover for something more malevolent. "V" stars Elizabeth Mitchell as Erica Evans, Morris Chestnut as Ryan Nichols, Joel Gretsch as Father Jack Landry, Lourdes Benedicto as Valerie Stevens, Logan Huffman as Tyler Evans, Laura Vandervoort as Lisa, with Morena Baccarin as Anna and Scott Wolf as Chad Decker. The series is produced by HDFilms in association with Warner Bros. Television. Scott Peters is executive producer/writer and Steve Pearlman and Jace Hall are executive producers. The pilot was directed and executive produced by Yves Simoneau.

Loved the original back in the day. I was like 7 or 8, so don't remember all too well. Freddy Kruger played a good alien, but other than that, I don't remember much about it. The trailer looks pretty bad ass though.

I was about the same age then. I remember the aliens eating mice or rats from a trashcan. And a woman giving birth to some alien baby.

I read somewhere (think Entertainment Weekly) that this has been cut short to four episodes in November (and then more in March) because it underwent a major re-write based on the fact that sci fi shows (fringe, flash forward) aren't pulling good ratings.

one rumor had it that the writers could not mention the word alien in the show. :haha:

watch the first eight minutes:

Ugh, so MEDIOCRE. Incredibly stupid in places and shows potential in places. Ultimately a mixed bag, but really underwhelming. It wastes no time on setup and lays out the main conflict by the end of the pilot. Which, if you're turned off by intrigue and character development, is right up your alley.

Spoiler: show
Looks like they're going BattleStar Gallactica with the conflicted Visitors and all. It's incredible to me that they shot straight to this and didn't let this build dramatically and over the course of getting to know characters, though.

Shrug.

Spoiler: show
The conflicted visitors angle is actually taken from the original V series and movie, where some of the visitors are on the side of the humans....

Ahh, didn't know that. Still, I wish it hadn't been introduced so quickly. You're a television series, take some time to build, dammit!
