This is just something that, for some reason, popped into my head this morning. I was thinking about actors and actresses who surprised me with a role they played. Not neccessarily Oscar caliber, though they can be, but just good performances that you weren't expecting.

Some, off the top of my head, are:

Brad Pitt in Snatch
Christian Bale in American Psycho
Marky Mark in Boogie Nights
Maomi Watts in 21 Grams

That's all for now, have a good day everyone.

Precisely! I can't picture that guy doing anything seriously.

Man On The Moon was pretty serious, to a degree.
The Majestic wasn't a comedy, but it wasn't much good either.
The Truman Show wasn't a comedy in the strictest sense.

Adam Sandler in Punch Drunk Love takes the cake. Take a look at his career. There's one thing that sticks out like a sore thumb, and this thumb sticks out longer than his arm.

Well, since Bob Saget popped up (and that probably does take the cake), I feel Neil Patrick Harris in "Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle" deserves a mention.

Agreed.

Brad Pitt in Snatch

That doesn't suprise me. It seems like a lot of his roles (minus the early years and the last few) have been rockin' and odd.

Doubt me? 12 Monkeys.
