i cant even put into words how much respect and admiration i have lost for this guy

wow. i cant even put into words the amount of respect i have just gained for this guy. to do what he did in tennis is incredible, to do it while high on meth is unbelievable, and dare i say heroic.

His early career he was a trainwreck. Obviously he had an odd childhood not much guidence (and or he didn't listen) and for some reason he dated Babs for a while. He was obviously screwed up. It's fairly impressive he turned out to not be a douchebag and at some point he realized he was a freaking idiot for using meth.

I don't think you lose respect for a guy for making a mistake. I respect him for owning up to it and becoming a better person through it. He's just lucky he didn't die to early and he got a chance to correct it.

Then again if it was 1997 and he lied about it at that point... F Him. He's an idiot.

As messed up as he obviously was early in his career, I would be much more surprised to learn he wasn't on drugs of some kind in those years.

having never tried meth, and knowing little about it past how bad it fucks some people up, does it have any performance enhancing attributes like some other drugs do?

I don't think so, if it is supposed to, he was taking the wrong stuff. I'm pretty sure 1997 was the worst year of his career.

the meth was used to just relax, not for performance

and i always held him and pete and even chang in high regards as far as not only being tennis players but as ambassadors to the game, and now this just casts a shadow on him, least in my eyes
