Reid and I are planning a road trip across this vast country of ours, tentatively scheduled for the summer of 2010. In this thread we'll detail our plans, and take suggestions on things to do and see. Right now I'm thinking we'll take the Jetta.

Plans:
First stop: Flint Michigan to visit john quincy hammond
Skipping completely: Oklahoma

I believe the plan is for me to swing up to Massachusetts and pick up Chud. After that, the road beckons.

I was thinking we'd head from Boston southwest towards New Orleans, cut east through Texas and into the midwest and then California, hook north until we hit Tahoe, and then cut back east making stops in Utah and Colorado before heading to Chicago.

Chud, update the header. Let's make Flint our first stop, though I hear they only have one guard at the bridge coming from Canada. That could mean trouble.

Sounds like a plan. Maybe we can visit our neighbors to the north if they don't give us too much trouble.

Are we planning on packing sandwiches or eating on the road? I saw we dine locally at least once a state.

NEWSFLASH: Flint doesn't have a bridge to Canada.

Well, looks like we aren't visiting geg. At least not during that part of the trip.

I'd say come up to the NW, but by then I hope to be on the east coast. Going up to Canada may not be a good idea, guys. I heard there's a bunch of really weird foreign people up there.

I think if we visit Canada it will be a last minute decision. Also, we plan to do this without the aid of GPS navigation devices. Maps and our wits only.

I'm no pussy. I say that we bring enough to get us through most of the midwest, and then just buy some good Fargo bud for our descent into the wild.
