In an mp3 world, why would anyone buy this? Still holding off for those fans that need to buy every CD single, I guess.
Aside from that, I take back what I've said about Just Breathe. It seems people have actually been noticing it and are enjoying it. I still don't think it's going change things with sales, or interest...but people seem to be into it.

i don't get why they've stopped releasing singles with b-sides. they'd obviously sell well amongst the fan base, and the guys seem to like making money these days - moreso than in the past, so what gives?
i mean, we pay 35 bucks for t-shirts.. what would stop us from paying 6 bucks for a single/b-side?

Maybe the potential B-Sides suck and they know it. When the album is only 36 minutes long, you would think that if there were one or two decent songs left over, they would have wound up on the album(keeping in mind that this band has released plenty of B-Sides that were better than half the album they got cut from.)
PS: Please dont take this as a repudiation of Backspacer in any way, I love this album.
We all have our individual favorites when it comes to the songs that move us. Then there are a few of them that reach greatness in an almost objective sense. For example, there isn't much argument concerning the excellence of ‘RVM' or ‘Nothingman’. Even those who have a complete ignorant bias against pearl jam (and I'm sure we all know people like that) make exceptions for songs like these. As if some unknowable quality within the combination of rhythm, melody, and lyrics, insists you can't “not” like this certain song. Okay, enough with the tangent. My point is ‘Got Some’ is one of those objectively awesome tunes. And if this doesn't end up as some breakthrough song, if it doesn't find itself being subjected to a high volume of radio airplay for a long period of time; then there is little hope in pearl jam gaining popularity again. By that, I mean accomplish one of the goals they set out with Backspacer, which is to win over some new (younger) fans. I think it's high time some great music wakes up the average listener from the generic mainstream crap they've resigned themselves to. Also, having ‘Just Breathe’ to cater the ‘Daughter/ Elderly Women’ crowd is a terrific marketing move on the band's part. Say this strategy works and their popularity does gain momentum; then they will have ‘Amongst the Waves’ waiting in the wings to launch them out of orbit. I just think it would be a shame if Backspacer doesn’t get the recognition it deserves. As much as I love underground bands (whatever that means), pearl jam is more than that. In a few years they will be writing more esoteric music and it sure would be cool if some extra people came along for the ride.

Could you write less next time? Sorry, I was just too tipsy to read it.

Without hearing any of thr album yet, I can safely say Just Breathe will be her favorite of the disc. Maybe even one of her absolute favorites from the band period.

The next single definitely should've been Unthought Known to me - that song would be HUUUUGE if promoted in the necessary way, though they'd definitely need to make a better video than the one for The Fixer.
the chicks are loving the hell out of Just Breathe. its a good single.
i dont think Unthought would have worked.
also it seems weird that they would make song like ATW (a song i dont really like), a song that seems tailor-made for radio, and then not release it. but then again, this band wouldnt know a hit single if it smacked them in the face most of the time.
