plans to get Celtic and Rangers into a two tier premier league are currently under discussion,i for one think it would be a top idea, two great teams, apart from Rangers, fuckin huns..... haha!

i dont think it would do any harm at all to an already booming league,it could only make it better.

Plus imagine the Celtic-Liverpool games,unreal......... yet another reason for me to visit Glasgow again! haha!

never, they're not good enough for the Premier League, would they still want to stick around after getting relegated? how would they be integrated into the league, if they are that desperate to join the PL then they should enter a reserve team into the Isthmian League North Division 3 or whatever the fuck it is and work their way up the leagues like AFC Wimbledon and FC Utd of Manchester have and are doing and if and when they get to the Championship, drop out of the SPL and just have one team in the Championship.

Plus I don't want to see the scum that are Rangers fans in Manchester again!

Yeah, I read about that. Was it really that bad? It cost United a parade through the city after winning the double.

it was pretty bad,and completely unprovoked, just rangers fans being dicks......... as per.

huns.

i think its only fair though, the spl is losing credibility because of the domination of the top two teams and if we started a two tier league then i dont see why it wouldnt work, they would start in the lower tier and have to earn promotion to the top flight? plus celtic and that other team are massive clubs that are now shrinking, they could once again become the great clubs they were in the 70's and 80's by getting more money from tv rights and more exposure? look at celtics ground, its immense? anyone who has set foot in there can testify, that is one of the top european stadiums.....and the atmsophere is electric on matchdays. something else.

im all for it.

it leads to a couple of questions though:

-> If Aberdeen win a title in a league without Celtic & Rangers, how will they feel? Could it just be added next to the one's Fergie won there?
-> If Celtic or Rangers qualify from the Champions League out of the EPL, has this consequences for the Scottish League? I mean, you can only have that many teams from one country in the CL.
-> How will teams like Porto, Copenhagen, ... feel? They will also want to join the Spanish & German league.

I agree that Celtic & Rangers are victims of all the big money in the big leagues, but I don't know. There were more great European teams outside of Italy, Spain & England before the big money settled in. How about Benfica, Panathinaikos, Steaua Bucarest, Ajax, ... ? They could have a really good point that it's not fair for Rangers & Celtic to join a foreign league, thus earning the big tv money, whereas those teams cannot ever reach it again.

I do see your point angus but i think it would only be a good idead for british football,i cant comment on foreign leagues cos this doesnt concern them, and it is a bit early to talk about cl qualification for those two. and as an afterthought they are gonna have to sacrifice cl qualification to get into the top flight of the epl, they might not even make the grade first time around? so that is pretty fair id say?

a two tier premier league is based on our fa and our football body deciding what is good for the british game? after all it is a pyramid scheme here and every team has a chance at glory, the more succesfull you are on the pitch the more reward comes off the pitch....this isnt the case in other countries. spain has a very competitive league where success is garnered in the league and european cup games only.
dont madrid have a b-team in the lower leagues too? that surely isnt fair? we asked about it but were royally told to feck off! ways and means of having a successfull team is usually based on money and exposure. talent only comes from money these days. barca used to be the exception to this rule!

the likes of ajax would always have the chance of glory and tv rights in their respective leagues as they are very competitive and havent been dominated for decades by two teams and two teams only? bucharest have never had money apart from the fact that they have come top and qualified for the cl and made money that way. they have long been a sleeping giant of european football.

the likes of the other scottish teams would beneift as long as somekind of european plan was put into place for them regarding cl qual. they are even talking about irish football too in this?!

i still dont understand why scottish clubs are excluded. with EPL resources n all that i think celtic and rangers will have enough resources to compete for a CL spot pretty soon. they mentioned expanding it to 40ish... who else is joining?

I think there was mention of having a Premier League 1 and Premier League 2, with the Premier League 1 being the clubs that are there now and the PL2 being made up of Celtic, Rangers and the top 18 clubs of the championship

There was:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 687273.stm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 353937.stm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/footbal ... 354858.stm

if it does happen they have to allow promotion/relegation to and from the championship.

When Gartside first came out with the proposal it sounded like he was shitting himself at the thought of Celtic and Rangers joining the EPL and Bolton being one of the clubs to get relegated because of this, so he brings out the idea of a two tier league with promotion/relegation between the EPL1 & EPL2 only to protect his own club

They should take the top ten clubs from the championship and the spl and put them in the prem 2. you can earn promotion to them from your own league and then onto the top flight?! sounds like a very good scheme to me,especially for the scottish teams.

I have no problem with them coming into the football league. But it is 'only fair' to all other teams in the league if they start in The Bristol Downs Football League Division Four (the 24th and final tier).

You do realise that "hun" is a pretty loaded and offensive comment? I'd advise you to drop it, please.

Yeah, I didn't get either why a basketball team and a hockey team would want to join EPL.

Wouldn't it be fun though? To have the New England Patriots vs Manchester United in a hockey game or something like that?
