So with The Who rumored to be the halftime show this year, does it make it more likely that Pearl Jam would entertain such an idea in the future? just curious.

unless they plan on lipsyncing, this sounds like a terrible idea. Daughtry's voice is long gone.

All Super Bowl performances are pre-recorded.

This is one reason I'd never wanna see PJ do it. For some reasons it doesn't bother me that some do it (Petty, Springsteen, etc...) but EV lipsyncing would annoy me. A true Pearl Jam superbowl show would have to feature at least one forgotten line and maybe two verses sung out of order.

Also, I can't imagine Pearl Jam playing a medley of popular songs.

Actually, I think right now is as likely as any time for them ever to do it.

They they are late to the show but finally come to grips that they are a major rock band.

i don't think they'd ever do it, but just to speculate, what would they play? all their famous songs have sensitive material for such a large, mainstream audience

jeremy - school shooting
do the evolution - anticapitalism
alive - incest
daughter - child abuse/violence

they may do stuff off backspacer, which has lighter, or positive themes, but i don't see them doing only new stuff (if they ever happened to do it, which, again, i don't think they would).

This is pushing it a bit. We know the Mamasan story, but the lyrics to Alive on their own don't really reference incest other than that one "I'm ready for you" line, which could be taken a number of ways.

Eddie has sung that line as "I'm ready...to fuck you..." on a number of occasions. I think it's definitely implied.

I'm not saying it's not implied. I'm saying to the general audience, it doesn't necessarily stand as a song about incest. At least not in the same way Jeremy is about school shootings.

yeah, maybe most people wouldn't even pay attention to the lyrics, but you know the media always scrutinizes this kind of things ad nauseum... specially the right-wingers

yeah logic would dictate that it be another Ten "hit". Knowing Ed, he would want something new in there , or something that they think is good.

if all night had been a single or was more known somehow, i think it would fit perfectly at a superbowl half time show.

If I had to guess, they'd probably toss in "Last Kiss" too. As a fan, it's not the first thing that comes to mind, but it is what they're best known for.

Yeah, its hard to imagine a 10 minute medley that'd be any good. What hardcore fans would consider to be awesome probably wouldn't play well with the general public.
