I HATE, HATE! arthouse films. Those from Europe especially, because I have to read subtitles. God, oh God, do I hate them with evey passionate nerve and bone in my body.

Last Year at Marienbad (French 1961). Yes, great imagery, great camera work, but other than that, what the fuck? Give me some cohesive narrative for fuck sakes. My Professor tried telling us that Lynch used the same idea with Mulholland Dr. Yeah, but I had a easier time coming to conclusions about the film than I did with damn Marienbad.

Mysteries of the Organism and Sweet Movie. Jesus Almighty, if you want to portray madness and sex on screen, please do it with taste. Shit like this does not make it watchable. Too on the nose.

I shower myself with Bicycle Thief and Unforgiven after watching those wankfests.

you must not know what im trying to get at. let me clarify by saying that reading subtitles takes away from some of the imagery I would like to be looking at. Reading subtitles in an arthouse film makes even more frustrating.
