If I have a macbook pro, do I have a dual layer dvd drive? Using iDVD, I've been creating dvds of movies I've downloaded, but I can only burn the ones that are under 2 hours and fit on a single-layer 4.7 dvd. I'm wondering if it will work burning longer movies if I get some dual-layer dvds. But can macbooks burn dual-layer dvds?
If not I have another question for anyone kind/bored enough to read this. Is there a good way to fit a 2 hour plus movie onto a single layer dvd?

using Toast you can burn it as a .divx and can fit 3-5 movies on a single layer dvd, however, regular dvd players don't support divx. I bought my dvd player specifically for that. I think xbox and playstation consoles support divx

how old is your macbook pro? my imac has a dual layer burner, and it's over 3 years old... so if you bought it within that time period, i would assume its also a dual layer

Go to 'About This Mac' in the Apple menu at the top-left of your screen. Then select 'More Info...' to load your System Profiler.
Select 'Disc Burning' from the menu on the left and check the DVD-Write section to see if your burner supports any DL (dual-layer) formats like in this screenshot:
