It couldn't have been the Steelers since the champion gets to host the opener and unfurl their banner at home, and the Pats are scheduled to play AT Pittsburgh this year. The Colts will visit Foxboro but they already opened there last year.
It's a fun Week 1 matchup due to both fanbases animosity towards each other, though it won't exactly be a nail-biter.

If the league is smart this will be Week 17's game since it'll likely determine who gets home field in the playoffs. Though maybe I just want to see that because I'm a sadist and like the idea of the Colts in Foxboro in January TWICE. But I'm getting ahead of myself.
The raiders get the first prime-time game? WTF? They didn't even have a winning record last year. Booo!
I hate to agree with a Colts fan but you're absolutely right.... why in the world are the Raiders kicking off the season in prime time? 5-11, that has to be the worst record ever for a team to be even considered for THE primetime game. Is Randy Moss really that marketable? I'm sure the Raiders will be much improved next year with the additions of Moss and Lamont Jordan, but come on..... I like the idea of the AFC/NFC Championship rematches, but personally I would have liked to see week 1 be Philly/Pittsburgh and NE/ Atlanta, just to switch things up a bit!
