Listening to Mike and The Maddog today, they were discussing an article which appeared in the NY Times which was about mistakes Joe Buck has made recently in his on are commentary. The biggest of which was on several occasions, he was under the impression that a fly ball, which passes over the bag, is a fair ball, even if it landed in foul territory (as long as it didnt land in the stand). They were kind of sketchy with the details in the article, anyone hear this as well, or read the article?

I didn't read this but I watched the game where he said this. I was like WTF? I started to question it when neither of the other 2 commentators corrected him. I think right after he said it I said out loud "since when?".

After watching the Boston/New York series I now cringe when I hear Bucks voice. I would push MUTE and listen to the game on ESPNRADIO but the reception sucks.

yeah, and what is more frightening is the two other people in the booth with him were Tim Mccarver and Al Liter. Mccarver is supposedly one of the BEST play by play people of our time, and well Liter is a friggin MLB PITCHER. you would think someone in that booth would have made a correction so it wouldnt happen more than once

Al Liter is cool. He has a nice sounding voice, he knows his shit, and he doesnt talk to much.

Maybe Job Buck should just stick to Budweiser commercials...Slamma Damma Ding Dong...

And has anyone noticed at it seems as if Liter only talk when he has a statistic to add in. It seems as if they give him a sheet of things he should say, and its his job to just work them in at some point.

I think it set in when Deon Sanders threw ice water on him after they clinched the pennant in the mid 90's.

"You're a real man Deon. You're a real man."

I still laugh when I think about Deon running around the locker room asking where McCarver was ready to douse him with water.

McCarver is a loudmouthed idiot, and he has been for 20 years. No Alzheimer's involved there. How pissed was I when FOX got the rights to broadcast local Yankee games and I had to listen to his innane banter all the time.

I think there should be a 3-way tag-team match between Buck/McCarver, Miller/Morgan and Hawk Harrelson/Mystery Partner, they should battle to the death and the last one standing will be banished to doing games in the Rookie League for the Helena Brewers.

I miss the days when the MLB playoffs were on NBC and Bob Costas was at the healm. He is probably the best current announcer.

Plus, NBC did a better job of covering the games than FOX.

Damn FOX.

For those of you who get Y.E.S., you will appreciate this. Michale Kay, may be right up there in terms of announcers who are not good, and just annoying. I know its a Yankee station, so he needs to be Pro Yanks, but he announces like the Yanks do no wrong, and everyone else does no right. He makes it tough to watch.

It's funny you say this because all over the Boston area people are screaming abou how pro-Yankees McCarver is and how anti-Boston he is. What was the deal with his "that walk is as good as a home run" thing the other day. The last time I checked a homer was much better, but what do I know?
