I just got a new Mac, and i have tried to burn a couple of cd's using iTunes. But there is a slight gap between each song. I was wondring if anyone knew of a way to fix this on iTunes, or another program that i could use burn. FYI i am not computer savy at all. Thanks.

1. Open iTunes
2. In the "Edit" menu, choose "Preferences" at the bottom.
3. In this menu, you'll see a bunch of tabs at the top, choose "Burning".
4. There is an option there for "Gap Between Songs". It's a pull-down menu. Change it to "none".
5. Click "OK".

Done.

I did that, but there is still a little click between songs. Any other suggstions? Thanks

I've had no problems burning gapless cd's with Roxio Toast.

I believe the only way you could get it truly gapless in iTunes is if you had ripped a disc into iTunes and chose the "Join Tracks" option. Then once they were joined, you could burn the disc. You can't choose to join the tracks after songs have been imported though. (i think so anyway, Knight Rider can probably clarify this)

So yeah, Toast would be the way to go.

How would i go about ripping a cd? And does that mean that if i down loaded a torrent and then converted it to .wav that i wouldn't be able to burn it to a cd with out the gaps?

I'm assuming you're burning MP3s when you get the clicks between tracks. Without getting too technical, it has to do with the length of the file, and how it fits on a CD. CDs are made up of chunks of data called sectors, and you can't start a new track in the middle of a sector.

So basically what happens is that most MP3s aren't the proper length to fit perfectly on a CD, so the burning software fills up the last sector of the song with silence, and you hear a short click. The problem is referred to as a Sector Boundary Error (SBE).

To fix it, you could either put a short crossfade on your tracks, or you can use a program like xACT to fix the SBEs on the tracks you want to burn. You would have to convert them to .AIFF/.WAV first before doing this though, so it might be more trouble than it's worth.

As far as downloading torrents of concerts, they can have SBEs, but they're nowhere near as common as with MP3s. Also, iTunes is convenient for burning MP3 discs, but I personally use Toast to burn lossless material.

You can use iTunes to rip mp3's from a cd. It's near impossible to burn gapless discs from mp3's. To burn the wav files on a Mac, Toast should provide you with gapless discs.
Here are the steps you should follow to get gapless discs on a Mac:
1. Convert shn's or flac's to .aiff using xACT. (aiff is simply the Mac version of wav, there's no difference in compatibilty or playability).
2. Drag aiff's into Toast, and select 0 sec gaps between songs (it will force you to accept a 2 second gap for the first song, that's ok, it comes before the first song).
3. Burn disc.

You can burn wav's the same way, but Toast will do a conversion which takes more time, it's easier just to convert to aiff's in the first place.
