Don't know about you, but I don't have much Christmas spirit this year...

Ironic that those of us who have our eyes open widest are the ones who see that these are the darkest of times.

What's worse and more concerning is the liberal war on Christmas.

True story:

As a customer leaves the store she tells the clerks "Happy Holidays." One clerk replies in kind.

Another customer remarks after the first customer leaves, "It's about Christ. So I always say 'Merry CHRISTmas, not Happy Holidays.'"

The other clerk agrees wholeheartedly and responds, "Yep. Me too." Then high fives the remaining customer as he says, "I AM A CHRISTian. There is no Kwanzaa as far as I'm concerned."

I watched this chicanery unfold before my very eyes and I said nothing as the warm spirit of the yuletide was fully extinguished in my soul. :shake:

If their Christ would only hurry up and return and please take them all to heaven and leave the rest of us to enjoy our cookies.

Eh, the PC-ness over this is pretty ridiculous. I'm an Atheist but I have no problem hearing Merry Christmas or seeing a nativity scene somewhere public.

Is that even what this is about? I didn't click the links.

I feel the same way. I didn't bother with the links myself, pal.

Anyone that gets annoyed at someone whether they say "happy holidays" or "happy christmas" needs to grow up.

I mean, I sort of understand the people who try to get rid of nativity scenes or menorah displays on town squares, but I feel like it should be left up to the community. If that community decides to put it up, even if it's on "public" land, it's really no big deal.

I feel the same way about gay marriage in California.

I can see the connection you're making, but I don't really agree with it. I think the right for equal treatment is a right the government should be protecting, while something more trivial like a nativity scene in the town square should be left to the community.

It's a pretty hostile culture we've created. I can't say Merry Christmas for fear of insulting the secular world/other religions. But I can't say Happy Holidays for fear of insulting Christians.

I like to err on the side of insulting everyone. At least I'm not discriminating.

Well, the convenience store crowd isn't going to be happy about that. Sometimes those poor bastards have to work the holidays while the rest of us sit around the house and tell stories of the christ-child.

Hilarious considering the reason for the season comes from before Christianity.

I understand in the grand scheme of things that a nativity scene on government property may seem like a trivial matter, and it might not even be worth the lawsuit, but it's not as harmless as we think, and it's absolutely a church-state violation.

:shake:

It's the kind of sign that makes you really want to attend services and spend your money there.

Quote:
While I watched the monks with amazement, a critic in our group made the following brazen remark. “Look at those poor souls, offering prayers to a God they do not know. Why, if only they knew Jesus, the real God, they’d be happy and wouldn’t need all this preposterous spinning and spinning and spinning.”

When did Buddhists ever offer prayers to a 'god?' When did Buddhists ever pray to Buddha? They don't.

Silly christians, do more listening and learning, rather than speaking.
