I tried suggesting this in the past, but didn't work out too well. I'll try again.

One film with each genre. Of course if there is an overwhelming disagreement over a film's categorization, then we can discuss it. Anyway...

Genres would include:

Comedy (Rom-Com or whatever)
Science Fiction
Horror
Drama
Action
Animation

Anyone interested?

Great idea, but there's gonna be an awful lot of discussion on whether genre a film is tied to. Count me in.

Seems interesting but could be a giant clusterfuck. What would you call Nashville? or The Big Lebowski?

just go with imdb?
but that still leaves movies like Army of Darkness (Horror Comedy), Mars Attacks(Sci-Fi/Horror Comedy), and movies that are Sci-Fi Action, etc.

oh, and what about a category for Documentaries?

If I picked it my way, I'd say:

Army of Darkness = Comedy
Evil Dead = Horror
Mars Attacks = Comedy
The Big Lebowski = Comedy
Nashville (never seen :shake: )

Well, I'd do the Oscar Tourney again, since we're in the spirit of the season, but I don't know how people would feel about that.

I might too, but you could easily say Evil Dead is a comedy.

Part II has its chuckles, no doubt, but I would still consider it horror.

Army of Darkness borders on the line of a Mel Brooks film
