I thought the Brisbane 2009 version was pretty cool, having the If You Want Blood cover before it. :)

 He didn't call you a name, just asked wtf was wrong with you. No need to get hostile.

As far as "Blood" goes, a more recent version that is pretty good is 2006-09-19 Torino, it opens Encore 2, and is pretty high energy.

Can't find the audio but it was the main set closer in Dublin in 96 and they went into a little 'fame' Bowie jam at the end. Very different.

I think Utah in 95 is my favorite, his voice is just shot.

You like that version?!

Ed sounds awful, not even ragged but good, just bad.

I can't see youtube at work, but if this is a version from 1996 I completely agree. One of my favorites is from Buffalo 1996. The one from Charleston is intensly good as well. "This bloods for you, South Carolina".

Is there a real extended version of Blood? As much as i love Ed, I've always wanted him to just sit back, let Jeff just go nuts for awhile. Such a good jam piece. The first one posted on here has some jamming, but Ed kind of whines over it, ruining it imho. Just let the music flow, man.

Other than a handful of 93/94 versions, nothing tops 4/03/03 from Oklahoma City. Ed sounds FERAL, obviously still pissed off from the whole Denver fiasco.

Listen up.

From Two Feet Thick

Quote:
04/01/03 – Pepsi Center: Denver, CO
attendance: 12,000
support act: Sleater-Kinney

notes: ....The improv before ‘Green Disease’ is very short and starts out with, “Don’t drive me, I’m an SUV …” Ed talks about someone who was in the armed forces during Vietnam and how Ed asked him how he felt about the current world situation. He is interrupted and says, “Did somebody say “shut up”? I don’t know if you heard about this thing … it’s called freedom of speech. It’s worth thinking about cuz it’s going away. So in the last year of being able to use it, I’m sure as fuck going to use it.” .....The Bush mask takes a familiar throttling during ‘Bushleaguer.’ (A few people left during or after ‘Bushleaguer.’ The press made a huge issue of it.) ....

The next night Ed said:

"But now freedom of speech it has, uh, it has a lot to do with much bigger issues. And uh, somehow, we played a show last night and it’s been misconstrued. They said, uh, 24 people left because they were upset at a, uh, anti-Bush administration remark. [crowd boos] You’re booing the story, right, not me? Let’s clarify that. You know you could have written that story differently and you could have said 11,972 people cheered and applauded at what the singer said … we pledged our support and love to the troops. Ya know, how could we not be for the military? Look at this fuckin’ haircut. [cheers] So, uh, no matter what it is, no matter how you feel, I think it’s important for people to be able to protest, say what they feel, and put public pressure, put pressure on politicians and government just so that they will do a better job. There’s nothing anti-patriotic about that. Because their job affects our families, our safety, our security, our relatives who are in the military, our friends, it affects everyone, so we have a right to be a voice and be part of that, I would think, as part of a democracy. That’s all we wanted to say, this is ‘Given to Fly’."

Yes! I love that version, its like 8 minutes long and just fucking angry.

Not sure if its been mentioned but Hartford 1996 has a great take with lyrics from Bowie's Fame and Stereolab's Noise of Carpet thrown in.
