Although many years have passed since the publication of any work by Salinger, friends and visitors to his home have revealed that he has a large safe containing at least 15 completed manuscripts.

he would probably be really pissed about it, but it'd be awesome if those got published. would it be wrong for his estate to do so?

"I swear to God, if I were a piano player or an actor or something and all those dopes thought I was terrific, I'd hate it. I wouldn't even want them to clap for me. People always clap for the wrong things. If I were a piano player, I'd play in the goddam closet."

From what I just read on his wiki, he will likely be ok with most of it since he had a lot of it "marked".
Quote:
In her memoir, Margaret Salinger describes the detailed filing system her father had for his unpublished manuscripts: "A red mark meant, if I die before I finish my work, publish this 'as is,' blue meant publish but edit first, and so on."
“That's the whole trouble. You can't ever find a place that's nice and peaceful, because there isn't any. You may think there is, but once you get there, when you're not looking, somebody'll sneak up and write 'Fuck you' right under your nose.” - J.D. Salinger (R.I.P. 1919 – 2010)

RIP
I read Catcher at the perfect age and subsequent attempts to read it have failed. I felt like a phony trying to recapture that feeling and that youth. He'll be missed but I sure hope those other manuscripts see the light of day.

Yeah it's almost bittersweet. Like, great American author, sad that he's passing, but on the other hand, who knows what treasures will be found.
