I'm lucky to be employed and doing well. My wife was just informed that her school district will not offer her tenure at the end of this year and she'll be out of a job.

Well, we're half employed so maybe I should start a new one.

It's awesome when your bosses tell you that you "should just be glad you have a job in this environment" when you point out to them that for the past 1 year+ you've been doing the work of two people and not even getting paid fairly for the one job you used to do.

So tell him that he "should be *glad to have you as an employee," explain what you do, and tell him you want a raise or you're quitting. Otherwise, STFU and be glad you have a job in this environment.

I don't know what you do, but I've found that getting an offer from another company helps out a lot in these scenarios.
