I am applying temporary worker visa to Canada. If I get it I can stay and work there either 6 or 12 months. I'd like to leave at the end of march/beginning of april.

First question: Where should I go?

Toronto seems nice; lots of people, must have plenty of ways to spend time.

Vancouver: photos I've seen look stunning; sea & mountains just nearby the city.

Secondly; Will I find work & apartment?

I don't know how long I'm going to stay, maybe couple of months, maybe 12 months. By the time I leave (if I leave) I have graduated from university. I've worked as a part time IT support person for the past 6 summers. That icludes managing & maintaining servers (Windows 2003), installing softwares, changing broken components, Help Desk etc. I've also got one official Microsoft certificate (MCP). I don't necessary need a job from my own field, as long as I can get the rent paid & food on the table anything goes. Where should I look for a job?? How likely am going to find one? How long do you think finding one will take?

I don't know how easy it is to find a rental apartment from Toronto or Vancouver. How about the average rent?

Any help would be much appreciated. Too bad I cannot post this to the official pit, because I'am not a member of the "club".

Toronto - Just sucks in every way imaginable.
Ottawa - Too cold and small.
Montreal - The best city in Canada for nightlife and quality of life. Gets cold in winter but girls still wear miniskirts. Montreal in the summer is the best city in North America. Quebecois know how to have fun.
Calgary - Fun but small. Great economy and many girls with questionable morals. Couple hour drive to the Rocky Mountains.
Vancouver - High rent (everyone has roommates), decent economy. Being able to hit up an ocean beach a ten minute walk from downtown is amazing. Being able to snowboard and beach volleyball in the same day with no more than a 30 minute drive is amazing but tiring. Best sushi in North Amercia.

I've often wondered if because of how close to Detroit I am if I have more American mannerisms than someone who lives someplace further north

You did the right thing by coming here.

I'm not Canadian, but have spent some time in Vancouver, and enjoy it very much. I've heard Calgary is nice too, but have never been. Seems to be getting mixed reviews in this thread, though.

Montreal: "The language most spoken at home in the city is French by 57% of the population" I Don't speak french.

Any particular reason why Toronto sucks?
