I finished watching the first season of MacGyver last night, and while I still enjoy it, I was quite disappointed that the DVD was given such lacking treatment. Video and audio weren't restored, no little bonuses to give the show some context. No commentaries, or inserts. It's as if someone Tivoed the first season, put a half ass menu together and packaged it.

My only hope is that with each release they'll improve, but I scoped the specs for season 2 on Amazon and it's more of the same. :x I'll probably pick it up I can watch the show and still like it, but I still feel Paramount could've done better.

Anyone else have this?

On a related note, after having watched the episodes, I tried to think what else was on TV or in the theaters during the time it started. A-Team, Night Rider, Air Wolf and a handful of Bond movies. Particularly, some episodes felt like mini-Bond movies with KGB spies, explosions and the new girl each week (I swear Teri Hatcher was in one episode).

I had thought about picking this up on dvd. But from the way you seem disappointed, I don't think I will. It was a great t.v. series. But I don't know if it's worth the money now.

Teri Hatcher was in like 6 or 7 episodes.

I was a huge fan of Airwolf too. 8)

Eh, check ebay if you're just worried about price, or, uh, insist that a friend make sure they have a "backup" copy.

I didn't realize Teri Hatcher was in that many. Did she play the same character?

Yeah Ebay, I'll do that.

Terri Hatcher played "Penny Parker" in all 7 appearances. :D

This had been on my must-have list for a long time until I saw the specs for the release. NO bonus features, and a shitty transfer?!!!! WTF?

I can fix it, but I'll need wax paper, six tomatoes, and the trophy from the 1988 Boston Marathon.
