I know old news is old, but I had no idea that ANY of this had happened to Roger Ebert. An incredible read, with an incredible picture.

Holy shit. I knew he'd gotten sick several years ago (though I didn't remember exactly of what) but I had no idea he was THAT bad. So he's looked like that and not been able to speak for 4 years??

I'm not sure I knew it was that bad either, but I knew he'd suffered some shit. The man is still a bad ass anyway.

I appreciate his view on pretty much everything more. I didn't realize how much shit he went through and how much he was physically damaged by it. Great article. Thanks for posting it.

My parents used to go to the same local bar as him and would see him just about every weekend back in the day.

Ebert has written some fantastic political rants in the past few years. I've grown to really love his work.

I knew he was sick for a while, but didn't know any details. An amazing, if heartbreaking, read. Thanks for posting that.

Chris Jones is a fantastic writer. "The Things That Carried Him" which I think is linked at the end of the Ebert story, is some of the best stuff that's been written in the last year.

for a moment reading this i was touched by the story, and by the hope that journalists may be becoming better writers.
