Do you think there's already a known cure for cancer out there?
I ask this because it seems in my personal experience, that many average, everyday people (not conspiracy theorists) believe this is the case. My observations are obviously anecdotal, but I've heard so many people say things like that, it just got me wondering if my experiences are the norm; do people here think there's already a cure? Do people you talk to commonly think there is? Maybe it's just something people say out of frustration when they're sitting in a hospital watching a loved one die. Thoughts?

There's obviously no evidence that a cancer cure exists. I'd pin it on the experience of losing loved ones, as you mention, and moreover, the sort of conspiracy theory-leaning so many Americans share.

Medicine Man is running on one of the movie channels this month.
Coincidence?
Lol, I don't even know what that is, so I guess the answer is yes.

I don't think it even makes sense to talk about "curing" cancer. It's not a disease. There are probably millions of conceivable ways to stop, slow, reverse, ignore, etc cancer, and I know we are aware of and use many of these. If you mean curing cancer in the sense of an absolute method to make cancer disappear in whoever has it then no, there is certainly not a cure for cancer.
Although, I find it likely that if anyone at a major corporate research center did approach what appeared to be a cure for cancer, the health care industry would probably shut it down and destroy the evidence.

You really believe that?
Everyone i know, including myself, has had some experience with dealing with a loved one having cancer. In regards to this specific case, I just cannot imagine a human being that greedy for money.

Part of me feels this way too, but then again, a major corporation like Pfizer would profit unbelievably from this cure.

You know that corporations are people, right? Are you sure you haven't seen corporations act that greedily for money? Is that not their only desire?

Absolutely - i guess it's just wishful thinking on my part. My logic is that everyone is affected by cancer family wise, therefore it would take a cruel motherfucker to say to his mom and/or uncle and/or cousin "sorry about your luck, we did havea cure but my pharma stocks would have been destroyed if we let that cure come out.
in my experience it's not that people think there is a "cure" out there but that corporations and a good chunk of the medical community have no desire in seeing a cure, but would rather keep you on some for of drugs or treatments for the rest of your life. money money.

That's Chris Rock talking.

I think congress should pass a law and declare that only small businesses are allowed in the United States. Let's say under 100 employees. Once you hit 101 you become evil.

it's sort of like the aliens. it's here, but no one will tell us, and only the men in black suits can know about it. they'll kill anyone who comes close to knowing.
